March27th and 28th, 2009. I was in the Fargo, Moorhead area with one of the new Beavertail Jet, on stand by incase mother nature decided to over take the area. In the two days up there, I saw an awesome array of emergency services working like clock work to keep back the waters. Our prayers go out to the area in hopes they will not need ours or any other services as the water passes through.

I also had the great honor of spending some priceless time with Tad Agoglia, CNN's Hero of the year. As we were waiting in the wings with our rescue equipment, I realized why I was really there, just as he was there. When it's time for help, you can not get there fast enough.

First off I would like to introduce my self.

Your guide, Rusty Miller, is now living in Redwood Falls, MN, I moved my business on 9-07 from Crookston MN. Fishing since a small boy. Introduced to catfish and river fishing in 1994, when I first moved to Crookston MN, and was hooked ever since. What started out as a casual hobby has become an obsession for the love of the outdoors in which led me to start the guiding business in 1999, so I could share my love for the sport with others. Since then I have written many articles for magazines, done sport shows, fishing seminars, TV shows and tournaments all over the area.

My love for fishing began when I was very young as most. Heading out to the small lakes around the Blackduck, Bemidji area with my family. I grew up fishing pike, walleye, and pan fish. I graduated up to river fishing when I moved to Crookston MN in 1994. I was board one day and grabbed my walleye rod, tackle box and some bait and headed down to the river hoping to catch something. It was not long and I had something on the line that was refusing to come visit me on shore. I was starting to think that I had a real mountable fish on the hook. Well needless to say when I landed this awesome 2-3 pound catfish, I was disappointed and amazed at the same time. This thing put up a fight like most large pike I was used to catching. My adventures continued along with the breaking of most of my good light action rods as I graduated up to Med-Heavy rods, 50# line and hooks bigger than I ever thought I would ever use for fish in my life.

Sorry for the mess, I have moved to Redwood Falls MN. I will be continuing my guiding in that area on the Minnesota River. Channel cats and Flathead Cats. Stay tuned for more information.

Best fishing times are Late May-August. Some good fall fishing is also available depending on water levels and temps. Early spring fishing can be a real good time also. Catfishing is open all year, however they are not very aggressive when the water temps drop below 50*.
